In my experience, Moms don’t have to go out of their way to embarrass teen boys. Teen boys do a pretty good job of doing that to themselves. And even when they don’t actively embarrass themselves, they think they should be embarrassed by anything anyone else around them does.

It’s all about them, you see. It’s amazing what happens when you realize that isn’t the case.

Wendy, I agree – they need to be embarrassed regularly to realize how good they have it. (And, err, their friends tend to think I’m a cool mom, too… although popularity with that generation has never been a goal.)

I think if I could have rigged up a his stopwatch like a video game controller, so he could have pointed it at me and gotten some sort of explodey/noisy type feedback, he’d have been more cooperative.

Awesome that your smart (alecky) boy helped you out. Mine are always quite snarky and superior about such things too.
