Not Allowed To Vote

Dog Vote

They also cannot vote because they are 1) dogs, and 2) have the IQ of a mushroom. The latter deficit, however, is not a barrier to voting, nor running for and winning elected office.

The closed primary is frustrating, it feels like disenfranchisement. (Don’t even get me started on the electoral college!)

Not all states operate that way. Why can’t all registered voters select a primary party of their choice and vote or attend a caucus, without having to declare a party affiliation?

Washington’s primary isn’t for a couple of weeks anyway, but it’s pretty anticlimactic when my vote is unwanted.

Since I’m really busy for the next 10 days, I’ll just second what you said, but for Alaska.

Caucuses are today. Should be interesting. Poor Michelle, I want to give her a hug and strong drink.

    “the IQ of a mushroom”

    I like that. heh-heh.

p.s. Why has Princess Bride been buzzed about recently? I missed something…

I’ll take both the hug and the strong drink. :)

WV is even more weird about primaries. If you’re independent, you can vote in the Republican party, or in any third party primaries, but NOT the Democratic party. Which is kinda weird because local politics are almost completely Democratic

And that didn’t even count the weird-o “convention” they had today.

    Beast Mom,
Because the Princess Bride is the BEST EVER?

BM – it began with an outreach to a Princess Bride newbie/convert, here… and then someone, I’m not sure who, posted the first Princess Bride quiz. Anne compiled several folks’ results on her blog.

I think everything my sons ever need to know about life, they can find in the Princess Bride book or movie. It’s really a very close second in utility to the Good Book itself. ;)

    Jeri,

That would have been my fault. I was looking for pictures of the Pit of Despair, and found the quiz instead.

I think most states have closed primaries, and I think it’s unfair, too.

Actually, I discovered I was wrong. In the past couple years, the Democratic primary also opened up, so you can apparently vote in either.

Of course that’ll be May, so it’ll most likely only affect local elections.
