Goalsetting - Freedom Challenge

Over at Today Is That Day, Aaron Potts, personal development guru, poses a pretty compelling 90-day goal-setting challenge.

10,000 Fists to Freedom

He calls it 10,000 Fists to Freedom. Why? Because he came up with the idea while running and listening to Disturbed’s song by the same name. It’s a pretty cool song – every chord says get on your feet, shake your fists, move your butt… major arena metal kind of song.

I’m often a dreamer, less frequently and effectively a goal setter. After careful consideration, I’m in. I commit.

My goals?

  1. I commit to starting the exercise plan that I’ve long been thinking about and procrastinating, today. Within 90 days I will be walking 3 miles x 3x a week alternating with practicing yoga 3x a week.
  2. I pledge to consistently and persistently build my brand new techblog into a revenue stream over the next 90 days. Early on, earning serious income isn’t a realistic goal - but demonstrating consistent commitment with daily content-rich posts, diligent networking and solid marketing is a sound objective.

They’re not huge and scary, like some folks’ goals that have signed on to his challenge. They are, however, a commitment to forward motion and positive change… and that is significant for me, since I’ve been flailing in self-sabotaging neutral for so long.

Why this post?

Accountability. I want my commitment out there because it keeps me honest and helps me stay focused and persistent.

Thanks, Aaron, for the kick in the butt! (And thanks, Holy, for getting me started thinking along these lines!)

    Thanks, B!

After today’s sucky yoga session, I’m can sure tell I’m not nearly as flexible as I used to be… three years of deskbound sedentary life have really done a number on me. :P

    Jeri,

Your quote “…flailing in self-sabotaging neutral…” should go down in the history books as one of the most descriptive phrases of our day! I love it!

Once again, glad to have you on board for the challenge, and thanks for allowing us readers to witness both your history making text and your history making commitment to forward growth! :)
