Faithless Wench
The freaking boat wouldn’t start.
It did just fine two weeks ago, when Bryan was prepping it for the season – but today, nada, no go, zip. Just click click click and a pitiful little cough.
Dang it all! It takes weeks to schedule a boat mechanic at this time of year.
It’s a good thing she looks good docked.

Oh no, Jeri! Here I was all envious of you boating today, and then this… but how fitting for her to die on Memorial Day.
Bummer.
She does look fab docked there, in spite of herself.

Well, dang that has to stink. I hope that you are able to get it fixed soon!

Very surprisingly, we actually got a mechanic to come out on Wednesday. Doesn’t mean she’ll be RUNNING on Wednesday, but still… a positive sign!

Check for corrosion. That’s what killed us. I had to replace a bunch of fuse holders because they were just green powder inside.
I love the salt water but it’s tough on electronics.

It’s the stupid battery, that’s all. Apparently the primary is low and the secondary is dead as a doorknob. In addition, we need to clean the outdrive, it’s pretty badly encrusted with barnacles and mussels to the point of jeopardizing the motor – so my brother-in-law Andy will break out the scuba gear and help us out there.
Thank goodness! I was fearing a huge electrical bill or something.
We could haul her out between outings, rather than mooring her – but we wouldn’t use her nearly as much. Plus, my boat-trailer-backing skills range somewhere between pathetic and downright dangerous. So, we’ll pay the price in de-crustation. Is that a word?

I looking forward to de-crustation when I get a bit older.
